A Misty Magination Images Maternity Session

Winter time in Southern Oregon is a time to cosy up inside with a good book, stoke the fire in the wood stove and try not to turn into a popsicle when you go outdoors.  For us local natural light photographers, it can be a pretty banal landscape to work with.  However, I strongly believe that beauty can ALWAYS be found in nature – regardless of how dead, dull and boring things seem to be.  This Maternity Session was shot during our bleak winter months.  The mist in the photos added a great moody element and vibrancy was coaxed out  out of dull flora in post production.  However, this young couple expecting their first child brought light and excitement to an otherwise drabby landscape.  I love using the natural composition of nature to frame my subjects.  The small path through the wooded area where some of these photos were staged is one of my favorite spots to shoot at.  The foliage on either side provides open shade for my subjects but still allows great light to frame the pictures.
